Hi! I’m Jessica Carlson,
A lifelong animal lover, I finally got my own first dog at the age of twelve. I started competing in dog shows, and later in pointing breed field trials, which my husband and I now compete in with our dogs and horses.

My love of photography, along with my early career in graphic design and digital pre-press led me to create Flashpoint. I began by photographing at shows, field trials and other dog sports, as well as my own dogs of course! My most beloved memories of my past dogs are now preserved only in photographs, so I know how important these are to capture throughout the life of our beloved animals. From the achingly adorable first weeks and months to their slower, more distinguished senior years, we can never hold on to every moment we have with our pets. But we can keep them in beautiful imagery, and cherish them in our homes for a lifetime and beyond.
While I’m proudly an award-winning dog photographer, the most important reason for my photography is to capture moments and memories, and transform them into stunning artwork that can be treasured forever.

Before Your Session
We'll check in ahead of time to make sure you, your pet(s) and any family members are prepped and ready, and finalize plans for the day.
Session Day
Our aim is for your session to be fun and stress-free! Everything will be catered to your individual pet’s personality, energy and training level. We don’t have time limits on full sessions, so we'll let them set the pace and enjoy the experience!
Making The Magic
Your images will be individually curated and carefully retouched to bring out all the beauty and remove any distractions. Within 2 weeks after the session, we'll go over the finished images and finalize options for wall art, albums, prints and any other keepsakes you'll want to preserve the memories forever!

This is largely customizable! From autumn through spring, Jessica works in or near north Texas. We have lots of outdoor location options in the DFW & Wise County area, or our mobile studio can come to you!

Absolutely! Before your session we’ll discuss who will attend your session and we encourage you and/or family members to get in the photos too!

You’re more than welcome to include all furry, fuzzy, feathered and human family members in your full custom session! Having an extra set of hands (or several) available can help if you have multiple pets for your session.

Most pets are photographed on-lead, with the owner close and those are removed in the editing process. And most pets aren’t perfectly trained models, that’s okay! It only takes a split second to capture a beautiful image, and Jessica is an expert at working with high energy animals! We will work together to choose a suitable location for your dog’s individual personality, energy level and training.

Your photography session and matted print are complimentary! We do have multiple options for additional pieces of printed artwork, from tabletop to artisan hand-painted wall art. You are not required to purchase anything, but my aim is to produce artwork you’ll love to have in your home!

Any piece of artwork you purchase will include a complimentary copy of the digital file for that image. Digital-only packages are also available to purchase.

I do enter photos in a few different competitions through the year. For custom photo sessions, this is completely at your discretion and only by your express permission.
