The Sport & Field Project Launch

It’s been holding tight in the cover, and now it’s ready to take flight

This is an ambitious endeavor that will take me to many places throughout the US in order to photograph all AKC Sporting breeds (including Miscellaneous & FSS), from baby puppies to seasoned seniors and everything in between. In training, at work, at play and at home, I want to photograph them all, with the goal of bringing to life a visual story of the beauty, purpose, and spirit of these amazingly versatile dogs. Once complete, the photo series will culminate in a beautiful coffee table book. In the meantime, I’ll be offering photo sessions and creating beautiful artwork for Sporting dog owners, breeders, trainers and handlers.

Why sporting dogs? As a Sporting dog owner, breeder, handler and trainer from my early teens to today, nothing makes my heart sing more than watching dogs do what they were bred to do. I want to share the thrill and the magic of seeing the instinct, breeding, drive and desire of these dogs to work from their earliest days through to their last, and their bond with the people who share the experience with them.

Why a book? In our digital age, we scroll and flip through images on our screens every day, but few stay with us. Even if we remember them, do we remember where we saved that? I want to share these images, the beauty and art and magic of it all, in tangible form both in physical artwork for the participants as well as the ultimate goal of a beautifully crafted book to be appreciated by anyone who shares the same passion.

While I’m based in the middle of the US, we already travel quite a bit multiple applications from one state or area may very well entice me to make a trip and capture several contributions to the project! For October-December 2025 I plan to be in Iowa, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and north Texas. Scheduling for the first part of 2026 will begin in December, and work out according to our availability as well as interest in project participation.
